Ad hoc (Latin: “for this”) committees are an important part of the life of South Church.  They are formed to respond to the needs which God is placing before this church today, as we perceive them.  They may arise from a group of members or from the Church Council’s initiative.  In accordance with section 12 of our by-laws ad hoc committees need to develop a statement of purpose, subject to council approval.  Also ad hoc committees need to be appointed or acknowledged by Council, and make reports to the Council as requested.  When their purpose is completed they are disbanded.
