Annual Musical

The 2019 production is…
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!

The Performing Arts Group of South Church continues its 25+ year tradition of staging a musical each year. Come join us…it’s going to be fun!

Read through/Audition

Sunday, January 13th – Read through/audition at 2:00pm.
We will begin this Sunday at 2 pm with a combination read through/audition. Everyone who is interested is invited to join us.

To be announced

Generally Sundays from noon – 5pm plus an additional 1-2 nights each week. Additional nights will be added as we get closer to the performance dates.

There are 6-10 Youth (contestant) parts and 3-8ish adult parts. Lots of flexibility here. If you are familiar with the show and have a preferred character, please let us know on Sunday. If you are not, I suggest you check out you-tube and check it out! Click here for basic info about the show.

More about our musicals
Past performances have included Pippin, Wizard of Oz, Godspell, Children of Eden, Honk, The Music Man, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie and Seussical.

Come and join this long-standing, multi-generational small group fellowship. You are welcome to participate if you are young or old, new to the church or a long-time member. You are welcome if you are musically inclined, and we’ll take you if you’ve never sung a note on stage. Are you a strong dancer? You are welcome to join us. Two left feet? You are just as welcome to join us. Will you join us as an individual? With one parent? As a family? You are welcome any way you come to our group. Have you been with us for many years? Welcome back. Will this be your first experience with the South Church Players? Wonderful! You will have an opportunity to meet church members of all ages, and see them in a different setting than usual. The bonds created last long after each performance.

In addition to actors, singers and dancers, we require musicians, carpenters, sewers, painters, and lots of organizational people – as many as 150 altogether. All participants must attend auditions to fill out paperwork so that assignments to choruses, dance groups, etc. are based upon numbers, age, height, etc. Individual tryouts are held for featured parts and dance groups.
