Our history together is over 300 years long, since the congregation was “Gathered” in 1711. Did you know…
Our 5th minister (1836-1839), invented the Langstroth Hive, the standard still used today by beekeepers throughout the world.
Four Patriots who carted Harvard’s library books to Andover for safe keeping during the Battle of Bunker Hill are buried in our cemetery.
Our first organ, an E.&G.G. Hook’s Opus 15, was installed in 1835. Nathaniel Bowen Cooke, a student at Phillips Academy, became the first person to be paid for playing the organ during worship services.
We honor the significant events, themes, documents and artifacts in our history as a congregation.
