South Church has a rich history of mission dating back to our earliest days in our 300 plus year history. The first missionary movement in America started here in Andover by students of the Andover Theological Seminary and our 3rd minister, Rev. Justin Edwards. “Go see what good can be done and do it” was the message given to the first missionaries in their send off.

Mission and service, caring both locally and globally has been a continuous passion at South Church. As expressed in our Church by-laws, “the Board shall seek to promote the ideals of Christian stewardship and systematic giving for these purposes.” Ministering at home in Andover, in the broader Merrimack Valley and in communities globally, South Church draws from the diverse gifts and interests of its members. We partner with a variety of organizations in the Merrimack Valley offering opportunities to share in both ongoing missions and one time identified projects.

Currently, our Board of World Service faithfully contributes to nine core missions, many of which are also supported regularly by members of both our Board and our congregation, who volunteer their time, serve on organizational boards and personally donate to the programs.
