Gifts of Generosity

In 2023, we are supporting Local and Global Mission Partners through Gifts that Grow.
Are you challenged by consumerism this holiday season? Are you looking for the perfect gift for someone who needs nothing? The Missions Team is once again offering the perfect solution: Gifts that Grow cards, inviting us to give gifts that reflect our hearts’ yearnings to make a difference in the world, just as Jesus did.

We encourage you to give generously, as you have all year, to the mission(s) of your choosing. We trust that God will bless you just as your gift will bless the recipients of your generosity. As you make gifts, we will provide you with beautiful cards and descriptions of your gift that you can share with your loved ones.

  • DIGDEEP—bringing clean, hot and cold running water into American homes through community-led projects, research, advocacy, and workforce development in an effort to close the Water Gap once and for all.
  • International Institute of New England—creating opportunities for refugees and immigrants to succeed through resettlement, education, career advancement and pathways to citizenship.
  • UTEC—supporting justice involved young adults and nurturing them to trade violence and poverty for social and
    economic success.
  • Food Link—creating a more equitable food system throughout Greater Boston by rescuing and distributing high-quality, customized food to under-resourced communities and by advocating for systems change.

South Church’s generosity is always shining throughout the Advent season. We are grateful to again offer multiple ways to lift others up this season. Once these programs begin, we will share details in the Buzz.

  • Make the holidays brighter for local children.
Our traditional Giving Tree provides an opportunity to purchase gifts from children’s wish lists in programs at Communities Together and The Boys & Girls Club in Lawrence.
  • Hazel’s Holiday Heroes (HHH) will create holiday magic for up to 75 foster children in local group homes this year. You can support HHH by sponsoring a child (approximately $100). Email Andrea or Meredith.

Join the decades-old tradition of ordering a poinsettia to decorate the South Church sanctuary! On Sunday, December 17, our sanctuary will be beautified with the poinsettia plants. Immediately following the service Deacons will deliver plants to friends in our church family, except for those you pick up. Order deadline is Monday, December 11th. Plants cost $13 each.
