Summer of Service 2026!
Summer of Service is a Haystack award-winning community service program for middle and high schoolers. Participants engage in hands-on local service projects during the morning and the afternoons are filled with fun activities. Fridays are “fun days” where the group gets together to do something fun: a day at the beach, a hike in the woods, water wars or something totally different!
We are committed to offering daily opportunities for service, fun and friendship. Everything we do at SOS revolves around those three values: feeding the hungry, loving our neighbors and caring for creation. We will explore these three values as we discover how our stories and the stories of other intersect at the crossroads! Each day, youth will have the opportunity to create connections with other area teens, lean into these values and practice them through acts of service.
Our afternoons together include scavenger hunts, huge and wild games, tie-dye, karaoke, time for reflection and more. It’s a full day of service, connection and joy!
We ask that you only register for 2 weeks at a time, so that everyone has a chance to participate. If you’d like a third week, please send Taylor an email to be put on the waitlist for an extra week.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized and dependable person to fill our Interim Summer Director of Youth Programs role. The position will run from June 8th – July 31st, 40hrs/week along with 12 hours onboarding and preparation throughout the spring agreed upon with the Minister of Youth & Families.

Families of littles are welcome to attend this monthly playdate! Drop in as you please, hang out at the playground, come together for some music/movement activities, meet new families (or say hello to those you know!), learn more about The Bee Suite and our exciting plans for this year of Children’s Music Ministry!
Entering Grades 1-3
Intro to Handbells with Ms. Michaela | July 13th, 20th, 27th, Aug 3rd, 10:00am-11:00am (Cochran Chapel, lower level) and August 10th at 9:30am
South Church is fortunate to have a robust Handbell program, with existing opportunities for 3rd graders through adults. Now, it’s time to let the elementary students explore handbells! Learning the handbells is a great entry point for exploring music. Handbells hone individual musicality and strengthen ensemble work, while also providing ample challenge for those who have played before or have experience reading music. Students must be able to attend 3/4 of the workshops, and must be present for 10 AM worship on August 10th.
Entering Grades 4-6
Theatre Discoveries: Storytelling with Ms. Shannon | July 13th, 20th, 27th, Aug 3rd, 10:00am-11:00am (Cochran Chapel, lower level)
From improvisation to puppetry, this workshop series is ideal for kids seeking a creative, ensemble-based experience! Whether your child is the next Broadway star or has never stepped foot onto a stage, they will love exploring different areas of theatre and working with the group to create their own performance. This workshop will culminate in a final share for families during the last class on August 3rd.
