September Council Update

The September Council meeting was dedicated to a review of the projects being proposed by the Building Team and the focus of the Capital Campaign. To remind you, the major projects are as follows:

• Repair and painting of the steeple and clock
• Installation of a fire suppressant system in the steeple, attic and sanctuary
• Sanctuary window repairs and installation of new architectural storm windows
• Redesign of the front of the sanctuary
• Limited renovations of the kitchen
• Investment in IT and AV infrastructure
• Installation of heat pumps on the first floor (Fellowship Hall, office, parlor, and kitchen).

Council voted to approve the continuation of these projects as the focus of the Capital Campaign. The next step in the process is the development of architectural and engineering design documents that would provide the needed specificity to allow the Building Team to go out to bid with contractors on the various projects.

Council approved from Capital Campaign funds already raised, a total of up to $250,000 to fund the various architectural and engineering design contracts. This amount is approximately 10% of the total projected project costs, typical for these professional fees. Each project will be separately brought to Council for further consideration and a vote. In this manner there is sufficient oversight of the spending of money raised during the Capital Campaign.
