Youth & Families

What does a week in the life of a family at South Church look like?

During the program year, each week brings new opportunities for connection, spiritual formation & fun! See below.

Summers are quieter for little ones but bring Summer of Service for middle/high schoolers.

Joining us on a summer Sunday for worship? Kids are always welcome and younger ones should grab an activity bag in our entrance space.

Children in Worship & Sunday Programs

On Sundays during worship, children are invited to play, pray, and learn together in our Nursery (ages 0–4) and Sunday School (PreK–6th grade).

Families begin together in the sanctuary. After the children’s message, kids may either stay in worship or join Sunday School.

Nursery (Ages 0–4)

  • Bible stories & play

  • Drop-off begins at 9:50am

Sunday School (PreK–6th Grade)

  • Dismissed after the children’s message (or communion)

  • All ages start together with check-in, a Bible story, and a reflection question

  • PreK–K: Reflection activities, games, and free play (Classroom E)

  • Grades 1–6: Choose from three activities (art, games, or rotating options in Classrooms B, C, or D)

Helpful to Know:

  • Children of all ages are welcome to stay in worship. Activity bags are available, and wiggles and noise are a normal part of church life!

  • On Communion Sundays, everyone—including kids—is invited to receive.

  • During the school year, our staffed nursery is open (grab a building map as you arrive).

  • After worship, pick up Sunday School kids in the children’s wing.

  • Nursing parents are welcome to stay in the sanctuary, use the rocking chairs outside the sanctuary doors, or the nursery (where the service is livestreamed).

Our Sunday programs foster joyful, engaging spaces where kids can have fun, make friends, and explore God’s love through creative activities.

During the program year, once a week our Middle School and High School youth groups meet for fun, reflection, and relaxation. Students also have the opportunity to participate in our choir and music program. We also offer a week long high school mission trip during April school vacation. During the summer, we invite this group to participate in our award-winner Summer of Service program.

2025 Mission Trip: April 19-26

The HIGH SCHOOL MISSION TRIP is an opportunity for all area high schoolers to serve our neighbor, learn about our innermost selves and build a transformational relationship with God. No matter where you are on your faith journey, this is a time to reflect, build community and meet the face of God in a neighbor you’ve never known before. We ask that everyone come to this week with an open mind and an open heart, ready for a week of love, community and service!

South Church offers music opportunities for infancy, elementary, middle and high school students. Find out more details about music programs for each age by visiting our music page.
